Question Tags in English | English Speaking Course Day 63

Question tags in English – ये क्या होते हैं? माना मैं आपसे बात कर रहा हूँ। मैं नहीं जानता कि आप किस तरह के इन्सान हैं। अगर मैं आपसे पूछूँ “क्या आप चालाक हैं ?” तो आपका उत्तर होगा “हाँ” या फिर “ना”। लेकिन सोचिए कि अगर मैं जानता हूँ कि आप चालाक हैं, तो मैं ये नहीं पूछूँगा “क्या आप चालाक हैं ?”, बजाय इसके मैं तो ये कहूँगा कि “आप चालाक हैं, है ना ?” या फिर कुछ इस तरह से “आप चालाक हैं, नहीं क्या?” या फिर कुछ इस तरह से “आप चालाक हैं, है कि नहीं?” इस तरह से बोलने का सीधा मतलब ये है कि मैं जानता हूँ कि आप वास्तव में चालाक हो पर फिर भी मैं तो बस यूँ ही आप से पूछ रहा हूँ। ये सब –  “है ना ?”, “नहीं क्या?”, “है कि नहीं?” आदि question tags ही तो कहलाते हैं।

Scenario No. 1

अगर वाक्य सकारात्मक है, तो question tag नकारात्मक होगा। अगर वाक्य है “He is good.” तो question tag होगा “isn’t he?”

1. पंकज अच्छा है, है ना ?
   Pankaj is good, isn’t he ?
2. पिंकी अच्छी लड़की है, है ना ?
   Pinki is a sweet girl, isn’t she ?
3. तुम पागल हो, नहीं क्या ?
   You are mad, aren’t you ?
4. मैं बुरा हूँ, है ना ?
   I am bad, am I not ?
5. वो खुश था, नहीं ?
   He was happy, wasn’t he ?
6. हम दुखी थे, है ना ?
   We were sad, weren’t we ?
7. मेरे पास पैसे हैं, नहीं ?
   I have money, haven’t I ?
8. पापा के पास कुछ है, है ना ?
   Father has something, hasn’t he ?
9. उसके पास किताब थी, नहीं क्या ?
   He had a book, hadn’t he ?
10. तुम स्कूल जाते हो, है ना ?
    You go to school, don’t you ?
11. राम स्कूल जाता है, है ना ?
    Ram goes to school, doesn’t he ?
12. वो खेल रही है, है ना ?
    She is playing, isn’t she ?
13. तुमने ताजमहल देखा है, है कि नहीं ?
    You have seen the Taj, haven’t you ?
14. वो स्कूल जायेगा, है ना ?
    He will go to school, won’t he ?
15. तुम वहाँ गये, है कि नहीं ?
    You went there, didn’t you ?
16. मैं आया था, है कि नहीं ?
    I had come, hadn’t I ?
17. बस चली गयी होगी, है ना ?
    The bus would have left, wouldn’t it ?
18. वो सो रहा होगा, है ना ?
    He would be sleeping, wouldn’t he ?
19. तुम अकेले जा सकते हो, है कि नहीं ?
    You can go alone, can’t you ?
20. मुझे जाना चाहिए, क्या कहते हो ?
    I should go, shouldn’t I ?
21. ये प्यार है, है ना ?
    It is love, isn’t it?

Scenario No. 2

अगर वाक्य नकारात्मक है, तो question tag सकारात्मक होगा। अगर वाक्य है “He is not good.” तो question tag होगा “is he?”

1. राम अच्छा नहीं है, है क्या?
   Ram is not good, is he?
2. तुम पागल नहीं हो, हो क्या?
   You are not mad, are you?
3. मैं पागल नहीं हूँ, हूँ क्या?
   I am not mad, am I?
4. वो खुश नहीं था, था क्या ?
   He was not happy, was he?
5. हम दुखी नहीं थे, थे क्या?
   We were not sad, were we?
6. मेरे पास पैसे नहीं हैं, हैं क्या?
   I don’t have money, do I?
7. राम के पास कुछ नहीं है, है क्या ?
   Ram doesn’t have anything, does he?
8. उसके पास किताब नहीं थी, थी क्या ?
   He didn’t have a book, did he ?
9. तुम स्कूल नहीं जाते हो ना ?
   You don’t go to school, do you ?
10. राम स्कूल नहीं जाता, है ना ?
    Ram doesn’t go to school, does he ?
11. वो नहीं खेल रही है, है ना ?
    She is not playing, is she ?
12. तुमने ताजमहल नहीं देखा है ना ?
    You haven’t seen the Taj, have you ?
13. वो स्कूल नहीं जायेगा, है ना ?
    He will not go to school, will he?
14. तुम वहाँ नहीं गये, है ना ?
    You didn’t go there, did you ?

    I hadn’t come, had I ?
16. बस नहीं गयी होगी, है ना ?
    The bus wouldn’t have left, would it ?
17. वो सो नहीं रहा होगा, है ना ?

19. मुझे जाना नहीं चाहिए, क्या कहते हो ?
