Vocabulary को Improve करें ताकि जरूरत के सभी Daily Use English Words प्रयोग कर पायें। अभी तक इस आर्टिकल में मैंने कुल 13 Vocabulary Exercises (with videos) अपडेट की हैं, आगे Vocabulary की जो भी Videos आती रहेंगी, मैं यहीं पर Update करता रहूँगा।

Vocabulary Exercise # 1

Essential (noun) – बहुत आवश्यक / बहुत जरूरी

Experience is essential for one to succeed.
किसी के भी लिए सफल होने के लिए अनुभव  बहुत जरूरी है।

It’s essential to keep yourself up-to-date.
अपने आप को अप-टु-डेट रखना बहुत आवश्यक है।

Vague (adj.) – अस्पष्ट / अनिश्चित

His answers are always vague, that’s why nobody values him much.
उसके जवाब हमेशा अस्पष्ट होते हैं, इसीलिए कोई भी उसे ज्यादा महत्व नहीं देता।

He put forth only a vague outline of his plans.
उसने अपनी योजनाओं की केवल एक अस्पष्ट रूपरेखा सामने रखी।

Swallow (verb) – निगलना / गटकना

It’s so bitter that I can’t swallow it.
ये इतना कडवा है कि मैं इसे निगल नहीं सकता।

It’s difficult for me to swallow his excuses.
मेरे लिए उसके बहानों को निगलना मुश्किल है।

Pretend (verb) – बहाना करना / दिखावा करना

I was weeping from inside, but pretended to be strong.
मैं अन्दर से रो रहा था, लेकिन मैंने मजबूत होने का दिखावा किया।

Don’t pretend to be nice in front of them.
उनके सामने अच्छा होने का दिखावा मत करो।

Show off (Phr. verb) – दिखावा करना

He has a tendency to show off, whatever he purchases new.
जो भी कुछ वो नया खरीदता है, उसकी दिखावा करने की प्रवृत्ति है।

Don’t show off your power to the poor.
गरीबों को अपनी पावर मत दिखाओ।

Somehow (adv.) – किसी तरह से / जैसे तैसे

I could do it somehow.
मैं किसी तरह ये कर पाया।

Somehow, I managed to call you.
किसी तरह, मैं आपको कॉल करने में कामयाब रहा।

Enthusiasm (noun) – उत्साह / जोश

Great success is never achieved without enthusiasm.
बिना उत्साह के बड़ी सफलता कभी नहीं मिलती है।

We should learn English with enthusiasm.
हमें जोश के साथ इंग्लिश सीखना चाहिए।

Curious (adj.) – उत्सुक / अभिलाषी

I was curious to know about him.
मैं उसके बारे में जानने के लिए उत्सुक था।

Freshers are always curious about knowing the new things.
फ्रैशर्स हमेशा हर नई चीजों के बारे में जानने को लेकर उत्सुक रहते हैं।

Extensive (adj.) – बहुत बडा / व्यापक

Her knowledge on this matter is really extensive.
इस विषय पर उसका ज्ञान बहुत व्यापक है।

There is an extensive garden in his house.
उसके घर में एक बहुत बडा गार्डन है।

Forbid (verb) – रोकना / मना करना

God forbid, if your parents were ill; what would you do?
भगवान न करे, अगर तुम्हारे मम्मी पापा बीमार होते, तो तुम क्या करते?

All the vehicles are forbidden to take entry here.
सभी वाहनों का यहाँ आना मना है।

Violence (n.) – हिंसा

Gandhi ji was always against the violence.
गाँधीजी हमेशा हिंसा के विरूद्ध थे।

Violence is not the solution to/of any problem.
हिंसा किसी भी समस्या का समाधान नहीं है।

Courage (n.)  – साहस / हिम्मत

Mamta could not have the courage to go out alone.
ममता अकेले बाहर जाने की हिम्मत नहीं  कर पायी।

We all should have the courage to speak the truth.
हम सब में सच बोलने की हिम्मत होनी चाहिए।

Accurate (adj.)- एकदम सही / सटीक

Your prediction was accurate.
आपकी भविष्यवाणी सटीक थी।

My watch is not accurate.
मेरी घड़ी सटीक नहीं है।

Fortunate (adj.) – भाग्यशाली

I feel so fortunate to have a wonderful teacher.
मैं एक अद्भुत अध्यापक को पाकर बहुत भाग्यशाली महसूस करता हूँ।

You are fortunate to have your mom with you.
आप भाग्यशाली हो कि आपकी मम्मी आपके साथ हैं।

Desperate (adj.) – बेकरार / हताश

Bharti was desperate to lose her weight.
भारती अपना वजन कम करने के लिए बेकरार थी।

When Ravi failed to get a job, he started feeling desperate.
जब रवि नौकरी पाने में असफल रहा, तो वह हताश होने लगा।

Bossy (adj.) – धौंस दिखाने वाला

Don’t be so bossy! People dislike such a person.
ज्यादा धौंस मत दिखाओ ! लोग ऐसे व्यक्ति को पसन्द नहीं करते।

She looks bossy to me.
वो मुझे धौंस दिखाने वाली लगती है।

Deteriorate (verb) – बिगड़ना / गिरना / ख़राब होना

His health is deteriorating day by day.
उनकी तबियत दिन ब दिन बिगड़ रही है।

Things have been deteriorated badly between us.
हमारे बीच चीजें बहुत बिगड़ चुकी हैं।

Ashamed (adj.)- शर्मिंदा होना

He was ashamed of his deeds.
वो अपने कर्मों से शर्मिंदा था।

You should be ashamed of yourself.
तुम्हें अपने आप पर शर्म आनी चाहिए।

Merely (adv.) – बस / महज़

I was merely trying to help you.
मैं तो बस आपकी मदद करने की कोशिश कर रहा था।

She is now merely a good friend of mine.
वो अब केवल एक अच्छी दोस्त है मेरी।

Precise (adj.) – सटीक / स्पष्ट / एकदम परफैक्ट

When it comes to take decisions in business, you need to be precise to be successful.
जब बात बिजनेस में फैसले लेने की आती है, तो आपको सफल होने के लिए सटीक होना जरूरी है।

I can’t give you a precise date for the meeting.
मैं आपको मीटिंग की एक सटीक तारीख नहीं दे सकता।

Apparent (adj.) – प्रत्यक्ष / साफ / स्पष्ट

It was apparent by his face that he was so confused.
उसके चेहरे से यह स्पष्ट था कि वो बहुत कन्फ्यूज्ड है।

Her sadness of losing her husband is apparent to everyone.
अपने पति को खोने का उसका दुःख सबको स्पष्ट है।

Remedy (n.) – उपचार / इलाज

I will go for a home remedy instead of medicines.
दवाईयों के बजाय मैं घरेलू उपचार लूंगा।

There is no known remedy for this disease yet.
अभी तक इस बीमारी का कोई ज्ञात उपचार नहीं है।

Crap (n.) – बकवास / बेवकूफी वाली बात

He tried all kinds of crap to lose weight, but of no use.
उसने हर बकवास चीज ट्राय कर ली, लेकिन कोई फायदा नहीं हुआ।

Cut the crap. Just finish the work.
बकवास बंद करो । बस काम पूरा करो।

Cautious (adj.) – सावधान / सतर्क / चौकन्ना

Be cautious, so many frauds are going on these days.
सावधान रहिए, आजकल बहुत सारे फ्रॉड्स चल रहे हैं।

You should be cautious while speaking on this sensitive matter in public.
पब्लिक के बीच में इस संवेदनशील मुद्दे पर बोलते वक्त आपको सतर्क रहना चाहिए।

Rely (v.) – भरोसा करना / निर्भर होना

You can rely on me.
आप मुझ पर भरोसा कर सकते हो।

Don’t rely on this laptop; its motherboard has some issues.
इस लैपटॉप के चक्कर में मत पडना; इसके मदरबोर्ड में कुछ दिक्क्त है।

Commendable (adj.) – सराहनीय / प्रशंसनीय

Your initiative to help the poor children is highly commendable.
गरीब बच्चों की मदद करने की आपकी पहल बेहद सराहनीय है।

Aman’s hard work is really commendable.
अमन की कड़ी मेहनत वाकई में सराहनीय है।

Flattery (n.)- चापलूसी

Your flattery can get you promotion, but not performance.
आपकी चापलूसी आपकी पदोन्न्ति तो कर सकती है, पर प्रदर्शन नहीं दे सकती।

I never do flattery.
मैं कभी भी चापलूसी नहीं करता।

Tendency (n.) – प्रवृत्ति / झुकाव / इच्छा

He has a tendency to criticize his rivals on everything.
हर चीज में अपने विरोधियों की आलोचना करना उनकी प्रवृत्ति है।

His tendency to exaggerate things is known to everyone.
चीजों को बढा चढाकर बोलने की उसकी प्रवृत्ति सबको पता है।

Enough (adj.) – पर्याप्त / काफी

I don’t have enough money.
मेरे पास पर्याप्त पैसा नहीं है।

He didn’t have enough amount of food to feed all.
उसके पास सब को खिलाने के लिए पर्याप्त भोजन नहीं था।

Refuse (v.) – मना कर देना / नकार देना

He refused my proposal because I’m not from his team.
उसने मेरा प्रस्ताव ठुकरा दिया क्योंकि मैं उसकी टीम से नहीं हूँ।

The car refused to start.
कार ने ऑन होने से मना कर दिया।

Ultimately (adv.) – अंततः / आखिरकार

Ultimately, he himself had to do this work.
आखिरकार, उसे ये काम खुद ही करना पडा।

Ultimately, the decision is mine.
अंततः, निर्णय मेरा ही है।

That’s why (conj.)- इसीलिए

That’s why she doesn’t help me.
इसीलिए, वो मेरी मदद नहीं करती।

That’s why I don’t like her.
इसीलिए, मैं उसे पसंद नहीं करता।

Religious (adj.)- धार्मिक

Every person has his religious belief.
हर व्यक्ति की अपनी धार्मिक आस्था होती है।

Her sister is a religious lady.
उसकी बहन एक धार्मिक महिला है।

Consequence (n.) – परिणाम / नतीजा

He may have to face serious consequences.
उसे गंभीर परिणाम झेलने पड सकते हैं।

This is the consequence of her deeds.
यह उसके कर्मों का परिणाम है।

Actually (adv.) – वास्तव में / दरअसल

Actually, I don’t want to call her.
दरअसल, मैं उसे कॉल नहीं करना चाहता।

What did he actually do?
उसने वास्तव में किया क्या?

Priority (n.) – प्राथमिकता

My first priority is to score 33%.
मेरी पहली प्राथमिकता है 33% नम्बर लाना।

We need to understand our priorities and act accordingly.
हमें अपनी प्राथमिकताओं को समझने और उसके अनुसार कार्य करने की आवश्यकता है।

Exhausted (adj.) – थका हुआ

I got exhausted after returning from there.
वहां से लौटने के बाद, मैं थक गया।

I have been exhausted of his excuses.
मैं उसके बहानों से थक गया हूँ।

Imitate (v.)- नक़ल उतारना

Small kids imitate and learn.
छोटे बच्चे नकल करके सीखते हैं।

He can imitate many actors.
वह कई ऐक्टर्स की नकल उतार सकता है।

Pathetic (adj.)- निराशाजनक / दयनीय

Her performance was pathetic.
उसकी परफॉर्मेंस निराशाजनक थी।

As a manager, he is pathetic.
एक मैनेजर के तौर पर, वह बेकार है।

Superstitious (adj.)- अंधविश्वासी

These people are extremely superstitious.
ये लोग बेहद अंधविश्वासी हैं।

A superstitious person is very dangerous for society.
एक अंधविश्वासी व्यक्ति समाज के लिए बहुत खतरनाक होता है।

Although (conj.)- हालाँकि / यद्यपि

Although he is my friend, yet I don’t want to go with him.
हालाँकि वह मेरा दोस्त है, फिर भी मैं उसके साथ जाना नहीं चाहता।

Although I know him for years, yet I’m unsure about his next move.
हालाँकि मैं उसे सालों से जानता हूँ, फिर भी मैं उसके अगले मूव को लेकर कुछ कह नहीं सकता।

Commitment (n.) – वादा / वचनबद्धता

Commitment requires hard work and discipline.
वचनबद्धता के लिए कड़ी मेहनत और अनुशासन की आवश्यकता होती है।

He has made a commitment to pay rent on time.
उसने समय पर किराया देने का वादा किया है।

Scare (v.)  – डराना / भयभीत करना

He was driving the car fast to scare us.
वह हमें डराने के लिए ही तेजी से कार चला रहा था।

Loud noise can scare animals and birds.
जोर की आवाज जानवरों और चिड़ियों को भयभीत कर सकती है।

Jealous (adj.)  – जलन/ ईर्ष्या

Are you jealous of me?
क्या आपको मुझसे जलन हो रही है?

I hate jealous people.
मुझे जलन करने वाले लोगों से नफरत है।

Spoil (v.) – बिगड़ जाना/ खराब हो जाना

Does milk spoil quickly?
क्या दूध जल्दी खराब हो जाता है?

The rain spoiled our picnic.
बारिश ने हमारी पिकनिक खराब कर दी।

Challenge (n.) – चुनौती/ सामना करना/ कठिनाई

Life is a challenge.
जिंदगी एक चुनौती है।

Challenges come to us to make us better.
चुनौतियां हमें बेहतर बनाने के लिए हमारे सामने आती हैं।

Overcome (v.) – काबू पाना/ जीतना

Aditi will have to overcome her fear while speaking English.
अदिति को इंग्लिश बोलते समय अपने डर पर काबू पाना होगा।

Daily exercise is essential to overcome the problem of obesity.
मोटापे की समस्या पर काबू पाने के लिए रोजाना कसरत बहुत जरूरी है।

Posture (n.) – ढंग/हाव भाव

Poor posture can cause you back pain.
गलत ढंग से बैठना (पॉस्चर) आपकी पीठ दर्द का कारण बन सकता है।

When you are giving an interview, your posture matters a lot.
जब आप इंटरव्यू दे रहे हों, आपका पॉस्चर बहुत मायने रखता है।

Tackle (v.) – निपटना/ सुलझाना

I have no idea how to tackle this problem.
मैं नहीं जानता कि इस समस्या से कैसे निपटा जाए।

We should learn how to tackle a difficult situation.
हमें सीखना चाहिए कि किसी कठिन परिस्थिति से कैसे निपटा जाए।

Vocabulary Exercise # 2

Introvert (adj.) –  अंतर्मुखी (लोगों से अपनी बात शेयर न करने वाला)

Introvert people are generally not very good speakers.
अंतर्मुखी लोग आमतौर पर बहुत अच्छे वक्ता नहीं होते हैं।

I’m not an introvert person, that’s why people like talking to me much.
मैं एक अंतर्मुखी व्यक्ति नहीं हूं, इसीलिए लोग मुझसे ज्यादा बात करना पसंद करते हैं।

 Extrovert (adj.)-  बहिमुर्खी  (लोगों से अपनी बात खुलकर शेयर करने वाला)

I’m an extrovert person, due to which I sometimes get into trouble.
मैं खुलकर बोलता हूँ,  जिसके कारण मैं कभी-कभी परेशानी में पड़ जाता हूँ।

Extrovert people are generally very good speakers.
बहिर्मुखी लोग आमतौर पर बहुत अच्छे वक्ता होते हैं।

Complimentary (adj.) – मुफ्त / प्रशंसा के साथ मुफ्त मिला हुआ कुछ

I’ve got two complimentary tickets for the movie.
मुझे फिल्म के लिए दो मुफ्त टिकट मिले हैं।

This soup is complimentary for you with the meal.
यह सूप भोजन के साथ आपके लिए नि:शुल्क है।

 Irrespective (adv.) – परवाह किए बिना

You can learn English, irrespective of the age.
आप इंग्लिश सीख सकते हैं, बिना उम्र की परवाह किए।

Irrespective of the fear of failure, he wants to give his 100%.
असफलता के डर की परवाह किए बिना, वो अपना 100% देना चाहता है।

 Heal  (verb) – भरना / ठीक होना

Rohan’s broken arm took several weeks to heal.
रोहन की टूटी बाँह को ठीक होने में कई हफ्ते लग गए।

It is said that time heals all the wounds.
कहा जाता है कि समय सभी घावों को भर देता है।

Immediate (adj.) – तुरंत / शीघ्र

The police took immediate action to deal with the riots.
दंगों से निपटने के लिए पुलिस ने तुरंत कार्रवाई की।

We received an immediate reply to our e-mail.
हमें अपने ई-मेल का शीघ्र जवाब मिला।

 Then and there (adv.) – बिल्कुल तभी / बस उसी समय

His boss fired him from the company then and there.
उसके बॉस ने उसे उसी वक्त कंपनी से निकाल दिया।

I decided then and there that I’ll not attend his marriage.
मैंने उसी वक्त फैसला लिया कि मैं उसकी शादी में शामिल नहीं होऊंगा।

Impatient (adj.) – अधीर/ बेताब

The people of America had become impatient to see that person.
उस व्यक्ति को देखने के लिए अमेरिका के लोग बेताब हो गये थे।

Don’t be impatient. Things will be alright by itself.
अधीर न हों, चीजें अपने आप ठीक हो जाएंगी।

Generous (adj.) – उदार / दरियादिल

He is very generous person as I always see him helping the poor.
वो बहुत उदार व्यक्ति हैं क्योंकि मैं हमेशा उन्हें गरीबों की मदद करते देखता हूं।

His generous behaviour has made us speechless.
उसके उदार व्यवहार ने हमें हैरान कर दिया है।

 Nepotism (noun) – भाई-भतीजावाद

Nepotism is pretty common in film industry.
फिल्म उद्योग में नेपोटिज्म बहुत आम है।

Nepotism is not always unethical, as everyone would obviously benefit his near and dear ones.
नेपोटिज्म हमेशा अनैतिक नहीं होता है, क्योंकि हर कोई, जाहिर है, अपने निकट और प्रिय लोगों को लाभान्वित करेगा।

His father was a king, that’s why only he will become the king, is Nepotism.
उसके पिता एक राजा थे, केवल इसलिए वो ही राजा बनेगा, ये नेपोटिज्म है।

Vocabulary Exercise # 3

Intrusion – घुसपैठ

American government has ensured that no intrusion takes place from the neighbouring countries.
अमरीकी सरकार ने यह सुनिश्चित किया है कि पड़ोसी देशों से कोई घुसपैठ न हो।

Intrusion for any country is serious matter of concern because it becomes the reason of crime.
किसी भी देश के लिए घुसपैठ गंभीर चिंता का विषय है क्योंकि यह अपराध का कारण बन जाता है।

Barrier –  बाधा / रुकावट / अवरोध

They formed a barrier against all intrusion.
उन्होंने सभी घुसपैठ के खिलाफ एक अवरोध का गठन किया।

If there were no international language, we wouldn’t be able to communicate with other countries, because there would have been a language barrier among us.
यदि कोई अंतर्राष्ट्रीय भाषा नहीं होती, तो हम अन्य देशों के साथ संवाद करने में सक्षम नहीं होते, क्योंकि हमारे बीच एक भाषा अवरोध होता।

Betray –  धोखा देना / विश्वासघात करना / भटकाना

 You didn’t betray me, I know that.
तुमने मुझे धोखा नहीं दिया, मुझे पता है।

Youth gets betrayed by the misleading statements of responsible people.
जिम्मेदार लोगों के भ्रामक बयानों से युवा वर्ग धोखा खा जाता है।

I wouldn’t be here, if you hadn’t betrayed me.
मैं यहाँ नहीं होता, अगर आपने मुझे धोखा नहीं दिया होता।

Blunt –  मुंहफट / स्पष्टवादी

He doesn’t manipulate things, he speaks blunt with everyone.
वो चीजों में हेरफेर नहीं करता है, वो साफ साफ बोल देता है।

He is blunt to those, who he dislikes.
वो उन लोगों के लिए मुंहफट है, जिन्हें वह नापसंद करता है।

Greedy (Adj.) –  लालची / लोभी

लालची कुत्ता हड्डी के दोनों टुकड़ों को खाना चाहता था।
The greedy dog wanted to eat both the pieces of the bone.

लोभी लोग दहेज की मांग करते हैं।
Greedy people demand dowry.

Ideology – विचारधारा

Every political party works on its ideology.
हर राजनीतिक दल अपनी विचारधारा पर काम करता है।

One can change the clothes, but can’t change the ideology.
व्यक्ति कपड़े बदल सकता है, लेकिन विचारधारा नहीं बदल सकता है।

Revenge  (n.) – बदला लेना / प्रतिशोध

दुश्मनों को माफ कर देना बदला लेने का एक आकर्षक तरीका है।
To forgive enemies is a charming way of taking revenge.

प्रतिशोध की मानसिकता से आतंकवादी हमले किए जाते हैं।
Terrorist attacts are carried out with the mentality of revenge.

Intrigue – साज़िश, षडयंत्र

It looks like an intrigue against him.
लगता है, मानो उसके खिलाफ कोई षडयंत्र हो।

The disclosure of this intrigue against him shocked the world.
उसके खिलाफ की गयी इस साज़िश के खुलासे ने दुनिया को चौंका दिया।

Backbite – चुगली करना / पीठे पीछे निंदा करना

He keeps backbiting, that’s why I avoid talking to him.
वो चुगली करता रहता है, इसीलिए मैं उससे बात करने से बचता हूं।

We shouldn’t backbite, as it exhibits our negativity.
हमें पीठे पीछे निंदा नहीं करनी चाहिए, क्योंकि यह हमारी नकारात्मकता को प्रदर्शित करता है।

Confined (Adj.) – सीमित रहना / के अंदर रहना

रमेश अपनी गंभीर बीमारी के कारण बिस्तर तक ही सीमित रह गया है।
Ramesh is confined to bed due to his serious illness.

पहले, महिलाएँ अपने घर की चारदीवारी के अंदर रहती थीं।
Earlier, women were confined to the four walls of their house.

English Vocabulary Exercise # 4

Persecute (v.) – अत्याचार करना / सताना

Nobody should be persecuted for his religious faith.
किसी को भी उसकी धार्मिक आस्था के लिए सताया नहीं जाना चाहिए।

They are the persecuted minorities of that country.
वे उस देश के सताए हुए अल्पसंख्यक हैं।

Encounter (v. & n.) – भिड़ंत होना / मुठभेड़ होना

That encounter with police had frightened him badly.
पुलिस के साथ उस मुठभेड़ ने उसे बुरी तरह से डरा दिया था।

Indian team had the first counter with Australia in 1965.
भारतीय टीम ने 1965 में ऑस्ट्रेलिया के साथ पहला मुकाबला किया था।

Amiable (adj.) – पसन्द किये जाने योग्य / सौम्य

He had an amiable personality, always had a smile on his face.
उनका एक मिलनसार व्यक्तित्व था, उनके चेहरे पर हमेशा मुस्कान रहती थी।

Sunny weather is very amiable in winters.
सर्दियों में धूप का मौसम बहुत ही सौम्य होता है।

Obstinate (adj.) – जिद्दी / अड़ियल – Stubborn

His obstinate opposition came to an end.
उसके अड़ियल विरोध का अंत हो गया।

He is an obstinate person by nature.
वो स्वभाव से एक अड़ियल व्यक्ति है।

Self – Centered (adj.) – आत्म केन्द्रित / खुदगर्ज

Such a self-centered person is one in a thousand.
ऐसा खुदगर्ज व्यक्ति हजारों में एक ही होता है।

People don’t respect a self-centered person.
लोग खुदगर्ज व्यक्ति का सम्मान नहीं करते हैं।

Philanthropist (n.) – जनहितैषी / समाज-सेवी / परोपकारी

He is a philanthropist. He is running thousands of NGOs for human welfare.
वो एक परोपकारी व्यक्ति हैं। वो मानव कल्याण के लिए हजारों NGO चला रहे हैं।

He is a philanthropist, while you are self-centered. There is a huge difference between the two.
वो एक परोपकारी व्यक्ति है, जबकि आप खुदगर्ज हैं। दोनों में बहुत बड़ा अंतर है।

Make sure (phr.) – सुनिश्चित करना

Make sure you wash your hands before you touch the food.
सुनिश्चित करिए कि आप भोजन को छूने से पहले अपने हाथ धो लें।

Please make sure nothing goes wrong.
कृपया सुनिश्चित करें कि कुछ भी गलत न हो।

As usual (phr.) – हमेशा की तरह

I called him as usual; but this time, his behavior was a little rude.
मैंने उसे हमेशा की तरह कॉल किया; लेकिन इस बार, उसका व्यवहार थोड़ा कठोर था।

He got up at 4 o’clock as usual.
वो हमेशा की तरह चार बजे उठा।

In a nutshell, I admit that the entire procedure was very tiring.

Vocabulary Exercise # 11

Pacifist (adj.) – शांतिवादी / अमनपसंद

I have never seen such a pacifist person in my life.
मैंने अपने जीवन में ऐसा शांतिप्रिय व्यक्ति कभी नहीं देखा है।

You are not a pacifist, as you always favor war.
आप शांतिवादी नहीं हैं, क्योंकि आप हमेशा युद्ध के पक्षधर हैं।

Saviour (adj.) – रक्षक / रक्षा करने वाला / उद्धारकर्ता

They regarded her as the saviour of their country.
वे उसे अपने देश का उद्धारकर्ता/ रक्षक मानते थे।

My saviour is no one but God.
मेरी रक्षा करने वाला कोई और नहीं बल्कि ईश्वर है।

Categorically (adv.) – स्पष्ट रूप से

They categorically refused to take part in this competition.
उन्होंने स्पष्ट रूप से इस प्रतियोगिता में भाग लेने से इनकार कर दिया।

She stated categorically that she had no intention of leaving the company.
उसने स्पष्ट रूप से कहा कि उसका कंपनी छोड़ने का कोई इरादा नहीं था।

Egoist (adj.) – अहंकारी

Ranjay is an egoist person, who only cares about himself.
रंजय एक अहंकारी व्यक्ति है, जो केवल अपनी परवाह करता है।

Your egoist behaviour will harm you in the long run.
आपका अहंकारी व्यवहार आपको लंबे समय में नुकसान पहुंचाएगा।

 On behalf of (adv.) – की ओर/तरफ से

I am writing to you on my brother’s behalf.
मैं अपने भाई की ओर/तरफ से आपको लिख रहा हूं।

I apologize to you on behalf of my family.
मैं अपने परिवार की तरफ से आपसे माफी मांगता हूं।

Fore (adj.) – सामने

34 cases of corona virus have come to the fore so far.
कोरोना वायरस के 34 मामले अब तक सामने आ चुके हैं।

This issue came to the fore in 1990.
यह मुद्दा 1990 में सामने आया।

On the spot (phr.)- मौके पर ही

He retaliated him on the spot.
उसने मौके पर ही उसका मुंहतोड़ जवाब दिया।

He must be arrested on the spot, as he is a big criminal.
उसे मौके पर ही गिरफ्तार किया जाना चाहिए, क्योंकि वह एक बड़ा अपराधी है।

He answered all the questions on the spot.
उसने सभी सवालों के जवाब मौके पर ही दे दिये।

Quite often (adv. phr.) – अक्सर

He meets me quite often.
वह मुझसे अक्सर मिलता है।

He used to visit my house quite often during his Delhi visit.
वह अपने दिल्ली दौरे के दौरान मेरे घर अक्सर आया करते थे।

After all (adv. phr) – आखिरकार / सब होते हुए भी

After all, he is my brother. I will never go against him.
आखिर वो मेरा भाई है। मैं उसके खिलाफ कभी नहीं जाऊंगा।

After all, he is an MLA. He is responsible towards the society.
आखिरकार, वो एक विधायक हैं। उनकी समाज के प्रति जिम्मेदारी है।

Ardent (adj.) – प्रचण्ड / बहुत ज्यादा / कट्टर

I am your ardent admirer.
मैं आपका बहुत बड़ा प्रशंसक हूं।

Most of my friends are ardent supporters of that Youtuber.
मेरे अधिकांश मित्र उस यूट्यूबर के कट्टर समर्थक हैं।

Vocabulary Exercise # 12

Defamatory – अपमानजनक

Defamatory comments must not be tolerated.
अपमानजनक टिप्पणियों को बर्दाश्त नहीं किया जाना चाहिए।

Take care of not making defamatory statements about any person.
किसी भी व्यक्ति के बारे में अपमानजनक बयान न करने का ध्यान रखें।

Latter (adj.) – बाद वाला

खेल का बाद वाला भाग बहुत ही रोमांचक था।
The latter-half of the game was very exciting.

दो विकल्पों में से, मैं हमेशा बाद वाला पसंद करता हूं।
Out of the two choices, I always prefer the latter.

 Blunder – बड़ी भूल

This blunder turned out to be the best action of my life.
यह ब्लंडर मेरे जीवन की सबसे अच्छी कार्रवाई बन गई।

Mistakes can be forgiven, not blunders.
गलतियों को माफ किया जा सकता है, बड़ी भूलों को नहीं।

Monopoly – एकाधिकार

No one has the monopoly on government assets. You can’t destroy them.
सरकारी संपत्ति पर किसी का एकाधिकार नहीं है। आप उन्हें नष्ट नहीं कर सकते।

Had there been only one company here, it would have had monopoly in market.
अगर यहां केवल एक कंपनी होती, तो बाजार में इसका एकाधिकार होता।

 Exile: निर्वासन / देशनिकाला

Lord shri Rama was on exile for 14 years.
भगवान श्री राम 14 साल के लिए वनवास पर थे।

To be exiled from one’s own country in any way is not a sweet memory for anyone.
किसी भी तरह से अपने देश से निर्वासित होना किसी के लिए भी एक मीठी (सुखद) याद नहीं है।

Endanger – खतरे में डालना

you can’t endanger thousands of people for your one plan.
आप अपनी एक योजना के लिए हजारों लोगों को खतरे में नहीं डाल सकते।

Doing this may endanger you.
ऐसा करने से आपको खतरा हो सकता है।

 Identical (adj.) – समान / एक जैसा

Two words may have the same meaning.
दो शब्द अर्थ में समान हो सकते हैं।

At first glance, the twins look identical.
पहली नज़र में जुड़वाँ बच्चे एक जैसे दिखते हैं।

Evidence – सबूत / साक्ष्य / प्रमाण

We have no evidence that he was there at that moment.
हमारे पास कोई सबूत नहीं है कि वो उस समय वहां था।

You can’t prove it without any evidence.
आप बिना किसी सबूत के इसे साबित नहीं कर सकते।

Cause – कारण बनना

It was the cause of all your problems.
यह आपकी सभी समस्याओं का कारण था।

Don’t smoke. It causes various diseases.
धूम्रपान न करें। यह विभिन्न बीमारियों का कारण बनता है।

Simultaneously – एक साथ / एक ही समय पर

I was working and simultaneously studying.
मैं काम कर रहा था और साथ-साथ पढ़ाई भी कर रहा था।

I can do multiple things simultaneously.
मैं एक साथ कई काम कर सकता हूँ।

Vocabulary Exercise # 13

Probable – संभावित (जिसकी संभावना है)

The probable date of his marriage is 23rd of August.
उसकी शादी की संभावित तारीख 23 अगस्त है।

It’s probable that I don’t continue my job.
यह संभावित है कि मैं अपनी जॉब कन्टीन्यू न करूँ।

Ineffectual – निष्प्रभावी / बेअसर

All his efforts against poverty were ineffectual initially, but he didn’t lose hope.
गरीबी के खिलाफ उसके सभी प्रयास शुरू में अप्रभावी थे, लेकिन उसने उम्मीद नहीं छोड़ी।

The pain of this wound is ineffectual due to the medicines.
इस घाव का दर्द दवाओं के कारण बेअसर है।

Enforce – लागू करना

No law can be enforced unless it’s passed by the parliament.
कोई भी कानून लागू नहीं किया जा सकता, जब तक वो संसद द्वारा पास नहीं किया जाता।

All attempts by the government to enforce this law were ineffectual.
सरकार द्वारा इस कानून को लागू करने के सभी प्रयास निष्प्रभावी थे।

Reliable (adj.) – विश्वसनीय / भरोसेमंद  

The police got this news from a reliable source.
पुलिस को एक विश्वसनीय स्रोत से यह खबर मिली।

As far as I know, my driver is a reliable person.
जहाँ तक मुझे पता है,  मेरा ड्राइवर एक भरोसेमंद आदमी है।

Rebel – बागी / विद्रोही

He was a rebel, that’s why they fired him from the team.
वह एक विद्रोही था, इसीलिए उन्होंने उसे टीम से निकाल दिया।

His rebel behaviour on everything became the reason of his failure.
हर चीज पर उसका विद्रोही व्यवहार उसकी असफलता का कारण बन गया।

Deliberately – जानबूझकर

You’re deliberately trying to hurt him.
आप जानबूझकर उसे चोट पहुँचाने की कोशिश कर रहे हैं।

I was deliberately ignoring him.
मैं जानबूझकर उसकी अनदेखी कर रहा था।

Severe – गंभीर

Severe illnesses are not covered in this insurance policy.
इस बीमा पॉलिसी में गंभीर बीमारियाँ शामिल नहीं हैं।

He experienced severe pain in his left leg, so he had to rush to hospital.
उन्होंने अपने बाएं पैर में गंभीर दर्द का अनुभव किया, इसीलिए उन्हें अस्पताल भागना पड़ा।

Volunteer – स्वयंसेवक

A volunteer is the one who gives his service without being paid.
स्वयंसेवक वो होता है जो बिन पैसे लिए अपनी सेवा देता है।

Seeing the noble work of this organization, he became its volunteer for the lifetime.
इस संगठन के नेक काम को देखकर, वो जीवन भर के लिए इसके स्वयंसेवक बन गये।

Voluntarily – स्वेच्छा से / अपनी इच्छा से

You joined the company voluntarily; we didn’t force you.
आपने अपनी इच्छा से कंपनी ज्वॉइन की; हमने आपको बाध्य नहीं किया।

I voluntarily gave up my claim on this property.
मैंने अपनी इच्छा से इस संपत्ति पर अपना दावा छोड़ दिया।

Coronation – राज तिलक करना / राज्याभिषेक करना

Coronation is the act of putting the crown upon a monarch’s head.
एक सम्राट के सिर पर मुकुट लगाने के कार्य को राज्याभिषेक करना कहते हैं।

All the people gathered at the coronation hall.
सभी लोग राज्याभिषेक हॉल में एकत्रित हुए।
