Identical (adj.) – आइडेन्टिकल – समान / एक जैसा – Alike / Similar
- दो शब्द अर्थ में समान हो सकते हैं।
Two words may have the same meaning. - पहली नज़र में, जुड़वाँ बच्चे एक जैसे दिखते हैं।
At first glance, the twins look identical.
Ideology (n.) – आइडिऑलजी – विचारधारा – Thinking / Dogma
- हर राजनीतिक दल अपनी विचारधारा पर काम करता है।
Every political party works on its ideology. - व्यक्ति कपड़े बदल सकता है, लेकिन विचारधारा नहीं।
One can change the clothes, but not ideology.
Idiom-(n.) – इडियम – मुहावरा
- शिल्पा को मुहावरे बोलना बहुत ही पसंद है और वह हमेशा उनका इस्तेमाल करती है।
Shilpa loves to say idioms, and she always uses them. - किसी भी निबंध को और असरदार बनाने के लिए, उसमे मुहावरे का उपयोग करना बहुत अच्छा साबित हो सकता है।
To make an essay persuasive, it is beneficial to use idioms in it.
Idiot (n.) – ईडियट – मूर्ख / बुद्धिहीन – Fool / Stupid
- कभी किसी मूर्ख से बहस मत करो!
Never argue with an idiot! - क्षमा करें, लेकिन आपका भाई बुद्धिहीन है।
Sorry, but your brother is an idiot.
Idol (n.) – आइडल – मूर्ति / प्रतिमा – Statue / Figure / Grave Image
- मुन्ना रोज़ अपने घर में रखी श्री कृष्ण जी की मूर्ति की पूजा करता है।
Munna worships the idol of Lord Krishna that is kept in his house. - सचिन तेंदुलकर के सम्मान में लॉर्ड्स के स्टेडियम के बाहर उनकी एक मूर्ति बनायीं गयी है।
In the honour of Sachin Tendulkar, an idol has been made outside the lord’s stadium.
Ignite (vt.) – इग्नाइट – आग लगाना – Burn / Kindle
- अब लोग माचिस के जगह चूल्हे को जलाने के लिए लाइटर का इस्तेमाल करते हैं।
Now people use lighter instead of matchsticks to ignite the gas stove. - एक छोटी सी चिंगारी ही आग लगाने के लिए काफी होती है।
A small spark is good enough to ignite a fire.
Ignorance (n.) – इग्नोरेंस – अज्ञानता – Bullhead / Incognizance
- हमारा समाज कई प्रथाओं को अंधा-धुन बस इसलिए मानता आया है क्योंकि अज्ञानता का वास है।
Our society has been blindly following many rituals and practices because there is the existence of ignorance. - अज्ञानता एक ऐसी बाला है जिसके कारण एक समाज कई सदियों पीछे चला जाता है।
Ignorance is such a curse due to which a society goes many generations back.
Illegible (adj.) – इलैजिबल – अस्पष्ट / जो पढ़ा न जा सके – Vague / Unreadable
- हमने अक्सर ऐसा देखा है कि डॉक्टर की लिखावट नहीं पढ़ी जा सकती, बस दवा-खाना वाला ही समझता है।
We have often seen that a doctor’s writing is illegible; only the chemist could understand. - मनीष की लिखावट किसी को समझ नहीं आती थी जिससे उसके परीक्षा में दिए गए उत्तर को भी समझना मुश्किल था।
Manish’s writing was illegible due to which his answers written in the examination were also difficult to understand.
Illusion (n.) – इल्ल्यूज़न – भ्रम / धोखा – Delusion / Fallacy
- जब हितेन्द्र रेगिस्तान में पानी ढूंढ रहा था, उसे ऐसा भ्रम हुआ कि मानो एक झरना उसके सामने ही है और जब वह पास गया, तब उसे सच पता लगा।
When Hitendra was searching for water in the desert, he had an illusion that there was a spring in front of him, as he went near to that place, he realized the truth. - जब मनप्रीत सुबह सो के उठा तो उसे ऐसा भ्रम हुआ कि वह कनाडा पहुँचा हुआ है क्योंकि वह उसी चीज़ का सपना देख रहा था।

- दंगों से निपटने के लिए पुलिस ने तुरंत कार्रवाई की।

Immense (adj.) – इमन्स – अत्यधिक / बहुत ज्यादा – Giant / Huge
- अगर आप लगातार मेहनत करते रहे, तो आप इंग्लिश में बहुत ज्यादा इंप्रूवमेंट कर सकते हैं।
You can have immense improvement in English if you work hard consistently. - वह नदी के विस्तार को ध्यान से देख रही थी।
She was gazing at the immense expanse of the river.
Immortal (n.) – इमोर्टल – अमर, अविनाशी – Undying, deathless
- कुछ भी ऐसा नहीं है जो खत्म न हो।
Nothing is immortal. - केवल हमारा शरीर खत्म होता है. आत्मा अमर है।
Only our body dies. Soul is immortal.
Immunity (n.) – इम्यूनिटी – प्रतिरोधक क्षमता / प्रतिरक्षा – Resistance / Protection
- स्तनपान से बच्चे की प्रतिरोधक क्षमता बढ़ती है।
Breastfeeding boosts baby’s immunity. - फल और सब्जियां प्रतिरक्षा का निर्माण करने के प्राकृतिक स्रोत हैं।
Fruits and vegetables are natural sources to build immunity.
Impartial (n.) –इम्पार्शल – निष्पक्ष – Unbiased, Unprejudiced
- आपको फैसला लेते वक़्त निष्पक्ष होना ज़रूरी है।
You must be impartial while making a decision. - ये निष्पक्ष रवैया नहीं है, आपने उसे 100 रूपए दिए, और मुझे केवल 10 रूपए।
This is not an impartial treatment. You gave him Rs. 100, and to me just Rs.10.
Impatient (adj.) – इम्पेशेन्ट – अधीर/ बेताब – Restless / Keen
- उस व्यक्ति को देखने के लिए अमेरिका के लोग बेताब हो गये थे।
The people of America had become impatient to see that person. - अधीर न हों, चीज़ें अपने आप ठीक हो जाएंगी।
Don’t be impatient; things will itself be alright. - गर्मी की छुट्टियों के आने का स्टूडेंट्स को बेताबी से इंतज़ार है।

Impeach (vt.) – इमपीच – दोषी ठहरना – Incriminate / Recriminate
- जब किसी देश के राष्ट्रपति पर कोई आरोप सिद्ध हो जाता है और वह अपना पद नहीं छोड़ता तो उसे दोषी ठहराते हुए निकाला जा सकता है।
When the President of a country has an allegation proved against him, and he denies leaving his designation, then he can be removed by impeaching him/her. - उच्च और सर्वोच्च न्यायालय के जज केवल दोषी ठहरने पर ही निकाले जा सकते हैं।
The judges of the Supreme and High Court can only be removed by impeachment.
Imperil (vt.) – इम्पेरिल – जोखिम में डालना – Endanger / Put at risk
- देश के वीर सैनिक अपनी जान जोखिम में डाल कर देश की रक्षा करते हैं।

Implement (n. & v.) – इम्प्लीमेंट – औज़ार / लागू करना – Tool / To execute
- बगीचे में गड्ढा खोदने के लिए सबसे अच्छा औज़ार कुदाल है।
The best implement for digging a pit in garden is a spade. - सरकार प्रस्तावित योजना को लागू करने में सफल रही।
The government succeeded in implementing the proposed plan.
Import (vt.) – इम्पोर्ट – विदेश से माल आयात करना – To bring / Coming in
- भारत को आत्मनिर्भर बनने के लिए, अपने देश में चीज़ें बनानी चाहिए और आयात किये गए माल कम करने चाहिए।
For India to be self-dependent, items should be made in our country itself, and the imported material should be cut down. - जिंदल ने कल ही एक नया मोबाइल मंगाया है जो जर्मनी से आयात किया गया है।
Jindal ordered a mobile yesterday which is being imported from Germany.
Impose (vt.) – इम्पोज़ – लगाना (लागू करना) / थोपना – Enforce / Inflict
- अगर हम अपना खुद का काम नहीं करेंगे और दूसरों पे थोपेंगे तो खुद कभी कुछ नहीं सीख पाएंगे।
If we won’t do our work ourselves and impose it on others, then we won’t be able to learn anything ourselves. - कोविड-19 विश्वमारी को रोकने के लिए कई राज्यों को धारा 144 लगानी पड़ी।

- विज्ञान के युग में शुभ और अशुभ के बारे में बात करना मज़ाक लगता है।

Incorrigible (adj.) – इनकरिजिबल – जिसे सही न किया जा सके – Not correctable
- कभी भी बहुत सोच समझ कर बोलना चाहिए क्योंकि एक बार अगर गलत बोल दिया तो फिर उसे सही नहीं किया जा सकता।

Incurable (adj.) – इनक्युरेबल – लाइलाज / जिसका इलाज संभव न हो – Irretrievable
- शक करने की बीमारी एक ऐसी बीमारी है जिसका कोई इलाज संभव नहीं है।
The ailment of doubting on others is such a disease which is incurable. - संदीप को कैंसर जैसी ला-इलाज बीमारी होने के बावजूद उसने हिम्मत नहीं हारी और अपनी पढ़ाई पूरी की।

- किसी भी किताब में कोई चीज़ अगर ढूंढने पर न मिल रही हो तो उसकी निर्देशिका देख लेनी चाहिए।
If we are unable to find something even after searching for it in the entire book, then we should see it in the index. - जहाज पर जाने वाले सारे सामान की एक सूची तैयार करने से, माल उतारने समय दिक्कत नहीं होगी।

Inflammation (n.) – इन्फ्लेमेशन – सूजन / जलन – Swelling / Knob
- जब खेलते समय प्रणव को पैर में चोट लग गयी तो उसे वहाँ सूजन हो गयी।

Intrigue (n.) – इन्ट्रीग – साज़िश, षडयंत्र – Plot / Catch

Introvert (adj.) – इन्ट्रोवर्ट – अंतर्मुखी (लोगों से अपनी बात शेयर न करने वाला) – Quiet
- अंतर्मुखी लोग आमतौर पर बहुत अच्छे वक्ता नहीं होते हैं।

Intrude (vt.) – इन्टरयूड – बिना इजाज़त के घुसना – Enter without permission
- किसी के निजी चीज़ों में बिना इजाज़त घुसना बहुत ही गलत बात है।
To intrude in someone’s personal affairs/matter without permission is certainly wrong. - बिना इजाज़त के किसी के घर में घुसना, एक प्रकार का जुर्म है जिसके लिए भारी नुक्सान या सजा मिल सकती है।

The Indian Army invaded the enemy’s posts all of a sudden by which they were taken aback.
Invasion (n.) – इंवेज़न – चढ़ाई / आक्रमण – Attack / Onslaught

In our era, there have been many such inventions which has made our lives so much easier.
Invincible (adj.) – इन्विंसिबल – अजेय / जिसे कभी हराया न जा सके – Unbeaten
- सिकंदर नाम का राजा बहुत ही लोकप्रिय राजा था जो लगभग अजेय था।
A king named Alexander was popular, and he was almost invincible. - दुनिया की ऐसी कोई भी सेना नहीं है जो अजेय हो।
No army in the world is invincible.
Invocation (n.) – इन्वोकेशन – रक्षा के लिए आह्वान – Summons
- जब एक हत्या के केस में पुलिस विफल हो रही थी तो पीड़ित ने सीबीआई जांच के लिए सरकार से आह्वान किया।
When in a murder case, the police were being unsuccessful, then the victim made an invocation to the government to hold a CBI inquiry. - मंदिर में भगवान से लोगों की रक्षा के लिए आह्वान किया गया।
In the temple, there was an invocation made to God for protecting the people.
Invoice (n.) – इनवॉइस – चालान / बिल – Bill
- कोई भी सामान खरीदने के दौरान, इस बात का ख़ास ध्यान रखना चाहिए कि उसका पक्का बिल भी मिल रहा हो।
While purchasing any product, great attention should be paid to the fact the original invoice is also being provided. - जब मैंने राशन की दुकान से लिए गए सामान का बिल देखा तो यह पाया कि दूध का दाम, पैकेट पर लिखे दाम से तीन रूपए ज़्यादा है।

When the poor countries of Africa’s head didn’t prove to be effective, then the president of the United States of America was invoked for help. - बहुत ही भीषण गर्मी के कारण सूखा पड़ने से परेशान, गाँव के लोगों ने मुख्यमंत्री से मदद की गुहार लगायी।
Due to the drought occurring as a result of scorching heat, the worried villagers invoked the Chief Minister for help.
Irrelevant (adj.) – इर्रेलेवेंट – असंगत / बेजोड़ – Unconnected
- कई बार हमारी असफलता हमें यह बताती है कि हम मेहनत तो कर रहे हैं लेकिन जिस दिशा में कर रहे हैं वो व्यर्थ है।
Many times our failure tells us that although we are working hard, yet the direction in which the hard work is being done stands irrelevant. - कभी भी कोई बहस करते समय मुद्दे की बात करना बहुत आवश्यक है, बेजोड़ बात कर के बहस नहीं जीती जाती।
While debating, talking to the point is always necessary, irrelevant discussions do not win debates.
Irrespective (adj.) – इरिस्पैक्टिव – परवाह किए बिना – Ignoring/ Regardless
- उम्र की परवाह किए बिना आप इंग्लिश सीख सकते हैं।
You can learn English, irrespective of age. - जाति और धर्म कि परवाह किए बिना, वह अच्छे चरित्र वाले किसी व्यक्ति से शादी करना चाहती है।
Irrespective of caste and religion, she wants to marry somebody having good character.
Irritate (v.) – इरीटेट – चिढ़ना / तंग करना – Annoy / Fed up
- नेहा की चुप्पी से राहुल चिढ़ रहा है।
Rahul is getting irritated by Neha’s silence. - मोबाइल कंपनियों के फोन कॉल से मैं तंग आ चुका हूँ।
I have got irritated by the phone calls of mobile companies.
Isolation (n.) – आइसोलेशन – अलग-थलग /एकांत – Separation / Quarantine
- रोगी को अलग-थलग रखना संक्रमण को रोकने में काफी हद तक मदद करेगा।
Keeping the patient in isolation will help in preventing infection to a great extent. - कुछ रोगियों को एक अलग वार्ड में एकांत में रखा जाना चाहिए।
