Pacifist (adj.) – पैसिफिस्ट – शांतिवादी / अमनपसंद – Antiwar

• मैंने अपने जीवन में ऐसा शांतिप्रिय व्यक्ति कभी नहीं देखा है।
  I have never seen such a pacifist person in my life.
  
  
• आप शांतिवादी नहीं हैं, क्योंकि आप हमेशा युद्ध के पक्षधर हैं।
  You are not a pacifist, as you always favor war.

Pacify (vt.) – पैसिफाई – शांत करना / मानना – Convince

• जब भी प्राची को कोई चिढ़ाता है तो वह बहुत गुस्सा हो जाती है, उसकी दोस्त श्रेया उसे शांत कराती है।
  Whenever someone makes fun of Prachi then she gets angry immediately, her friend Shreya pacifies her.
  
  
• कभी भी शांत होकर काम करना चाहिए, इससे काम गड़बड़ नहीं होता और अच्छे से पूरा हो जाता है।

Palm (n.) – पाम – हथेली / ताड़ का पेड़ – Flat of the hand / A type of tree

• बच्चे ने सिक्कों को अपने हाथ की हथेली में कस कर पकड़ रखा था।
  The child had held coins tightly in the palm of his hand.
  
  
• ताड़ एक लंबा सीधा पेड़ होता है जो आमतौर पर गर्म देशों में उगता है।
  Palm is a tall straight type of tree that usually grows in hot countries.

Pamper (vt.) – पैंपर – लाड़ – प्यार करना – Love

• छोटे बच्चे को घर के हर सदस्य से बहुत सारा लाड़ – प्यार मिलता है।
  Small children of the house get lots of pampering from all the members.
  
  
• बच्चे ज़्यादा लाड़ – प्यार से बिगड़ भी जाते हैं इसलिए उन्हें गलत काम करने पर थोड़ी सी डांट भी लगाते रहना चाहिए।
  Children get spoilt when excessively pampered, and that’s why they should also be scolded a bit when they do something wrong.

Pandemic (adj.) – पैन्डैमिक – महामारी /विश्‍वमारी – Epidemic / Universal disease

• WHO ने आधिकारिक तौर पर COVID-19 के प्रकोप को एक महामारी घोषित किया।
  WHO officially declared the COVID-19 outbreak a pandemic.
  
  
• कोरोना वायरस विश्‍वमारी के कारण विश्‍व भर के स्कूल बंद हो गए।
  Schools around the world closed because of the Corona virus pandemic.

Pang (n.) – पैन्ग – पीड़ा, दुःख  –  Anguish, Excessive pain

• मुझे बहुत बुरा महसूस हुआ । शायद मैंने उसके साथ गलत किया ।
  I felt a pang of guilt. I think I did wrong to him.|
  
  
• माता पिता से अलग रहना अकेलेपन का अहसास दिलाता है ।
  Being away from parents produces a pang of loneliness.

Panic (adj.) – पैनिक – दहशत / भगदड़ – Horror / Stampede

• कोरोना वायरस की वजह से पूरे देश में दहशत का माहौल है।
  There is an atmosphere of panic in the whole country due to Corona virus.
  
  
• आग लगने से थियेटर में भगदड़ मच गई।
  The fire caused a panic in the theater.

Paragon (n.) – पेरागॉन – नमूना / आदर्श – Norm / Ideal

• चंडीगढ़ जैसा शहर पूरे देश के सारे शहरों के लिए एक आदर्श है, इतना साफ़ – स्वच्छ और इतने कम प्रदूषण वाला शहर अद्भुत है।
  A city like Chandigarh is a paragon for all the cities of the country, such a clean and so less polluted city is unique.
  
  
• श्रवण कुमार उन सभी बच्चों के लिए आदर्श हैं जो अपने माता – पिता की सेवा करना चाहते हैं।
  Shravan Kumar is a paragon for all the kids who want to serve their parents.

Paramount (n.) – पैरामाउंट – प्रमुख / प्रधान / बड़ा – Topmost

• सारे काम ज़रूरी हैं, लेकिन सिकंदर के लिए उसकी पढ़ाई उसके लिए सबसे प्रमुख है।|
  All tasks are important, but for Sikandar, his studies are of paramount importance.
  
  
• वैसे तो केंद्र सरकार में बहुत सारे मंत्री हैं लेकिन सबसे प्रमुख तो प्रधानमंत्री ही हैं।
  By the way, there are so many ministers in the central government, but the paramount is the Prime Minister.

Parity (n.) – पैरिटी – समानता – Equality / Evenness

• समाज में जाति, रंग और धर्म के आधार पर समानता कायम करनी होगी ।
  Parity has to be maintained  based on caste, colour and religion.
  
  
• आज भी शहर और गाँव में कोई समानता नहीं है, सुविधाएँ हों या फिर स्कूल और अस्पताल, हर क्षेत्र में गाँव अभी भी पीछे ही है।
  Even today, there is no parity between village and city, be it facilities or schools and hospitals, in every field the village is still lagging.

Passion (n.) – पैशन – जुनून/जोश – Strong emotion/ dedication/ love

• उसे अंग्रेजी सीखने का बहुत जोश है।|
  She has a great passion for learning English.
  
  
• आपका जूनून आपको कड़ी मेहनत करने के लिए प्रेरित करता है।
  Your passion drives you to do hard work.

Pat (n. & v.) – पैट – टिकिया / थपथपाना – Piece / To slap lightly

• मक्खन की एक टिकिया में कितनी कैलोरी होती है?
  How many calories are there in a pat of butter?

• दूध पिलाने के बाद बच्चे की पीठ को हल्के से थपथपाना चाहिए।
  After feeding, the child should be patted lightly on the back.

Pathetic (adj.) – पथैटिक – दयनीय – Miserable / Awful

• उसने मेरे डांस को दयनीय कह कर मेरा मजाक उड़ाया।
  He derided my dancing as pathetic.
  
  
• मेरी जिंदगी दयनीय हो चुकी होती, अगर आप मेरे साथ न होते।
  My life would have been pathetic, if you hadn’t been with me.
  
  
• उसकी परफॉर्मेंस निराशाजनक थी।
  Her performance was pathetic.

Patience (n.) – पेशेन्स – सहनशीलता / धैर्य –  Tolerance / guts

• अगर आपमें धैर्य है तो आप इंग्लिश सीख सकते हैं।
  You can learn English if you have patience.
  
  
• सहनशीलता हमारे गुस्से को भी नियंत्रित कर सकती है।
  Patience can control our anger as well.

Patient (n.& adj.) – पेशेंट – रोगी / सहनशील – Sick / Tolerant

• डॉक्टर ने मरीज की कोरोना जांच की।
  The doctor examined the patient for Corona.
  
  
• अमन हमेशा शांत और सहनशील रहता है।
  Aman always remains calm and patient.

Patron (n.) – पैट्रन – पालक / संरक्षक / सहायक – Guardian

• नेल्सन मंडेला, जिन्होंने दक्षिण अफ्रीका में रंग – भेद ख़त्म किया, वो शांति के संरक्षक थे ।
  Nelson Mandela, who ended the colour apartheid in Africa, he was a patron of peace.
  
  
• सोनम वांगचुक , भारतीय सभ्यता और देश में आत्मनिर्भरता के संरक्षक हैं।
  Sonam Wangchuk is the patron of Indian civilisation and self-dependence in the nation.

Paucity (n.) – पॉसिटी – कमी / अभाव – Scarcity / Dearth

• इस हत्या कांड में सबूतों की कमी के कारण, पीड़ित को न्याय मिलने में काफी दिक़्क़तों का सामना करना पड़ रहा है।
  In this murder case, due to the paucity of pieces of evidence, the victim is facing hardships to get justice.
  
  
• पेड़ो और जंगलों की कटाई के कारण जानवरों के रहने की जगह में कमी आयी है, इसके कारण वे शहरों में भी घुस जाते हैं।
  Due to the clearance of forests and trees, there has been a paucity of habitat for animals, and this is the reason why they intrude into the cities.

Pauper (n.) – पॉपर – भिखारी – Beggar

• मौत कभी अमीर या भिखारी के बीच में अंतर नहीं करती , वह दोनों को एक सामान समझती है।
  Death never differentiates between the rich and the pauper, and it treats both equally.
  
  
• हमें गरीब और भिखारियों की मदद करनी चाहिए, कोशिश करनी चाहिए कि कम से कम उनको खाने के लिए रोटी दे सकें।
  We should help the poor and paupers, and we should try that at least we can give them chapatis to eat.

Peculiar (adj.) – पेक्यूलिअर – अनोखा / अनूठा – Unique

• भारत में एक आदमी के नाम एक अनोखा रिकॉर्ड है, उसके शरीर से बिजली जा सकती है और उसे झटका भी नहीं लगता।
  There is a peculiar record by a person in India, the current passes through his body, and he doesn’t even get a shock.
  
  
• ऐसा देखा गया है कि जो महान वैज्ञानिक होते हैं, वो सबसे हट कर थोड़े अलग अनोखे होते हैं।
  It has been seen that those who are great scientists are a bit different from others and, in a way peculiar to them.

Peel off (phr. v.) – पील ऑफ – छिलका उतारना – Remove the skin / Undress

• सीता आलू छील रही है।
  Seeta is peeling off the potatoes.
  
  
• उसने सन्तरा छील दिया।
  He peeled off the orange.

Penalize (vt.) – पीनलाइज़ – दंड देना – Punish

• बच्चों को मरना – पीटना भी ठीक नहीं है लेकिन बच्चों को अगर उनकी गलती पर सजा नहीं देंगे तो फिर वो उस गलती से कोई सीख नहीं लेंगे और आगे भी वही गलती दोहराएँगे।
  Physically punishing kids is not good, but if kids are not penalised for their mistakes, then they will not learn from their mistakes and would repeat them.
  
  
• दीपक कल बिना हेलमेट के ही अपनी बाइक ले कर निकल गया था, जब पुलिस ने पकड़ा तो उसे दंड देना पड़ा।
  Deepak went with his bike without wearing a helmet yesterday, when the police caught him then he was penalized.

Pent-up (adj.) – पैन्ट अप – मन में दबा हुआ – Suppressed

• वह मेरे मन में दबी हुए भावनाओं को कभी समझ नहीं सका।
  He could never understand my pent-up emotions.
  
  
• मेरे मन में एक दबी हुई इच्छा है कि मैं अपने माता-पिता को दुनिया की सैर कराऊँ।
  I have a pent-up desire to make my parents visit the world.

Penultimate (adj.) – पैनल्टिमेट – आखिर से पहले – just before the last

• इंग्लिश वर्णमाला में Y आखिर से ठीक पहले आने वाला अक्षर है।
  Y is the penultimate letter in English alphabet.
  
  
• हफ्ते के 7 दिनों में आखिर से ठीक पहले आने वाला दिन शनिवार है।
  Saturday is the penultimate day of the week.

Perish (v.) – पैरिश – नष्ट हो जाना – To come to an end / To die

• केवल हमारा शरीर खत्म होता है. आत्मा अमर है।
  Only our body perishes. Soul is immortal.
  
  
• सब कुछ समय के साथ खत्म हो जायेगा। कुछ भी अमर नहीं है।
  Everything will perish with time. Nothing is immortal.

Permit  (n.) – पर्मिट – प्रवेश पत्र / अनुमति – Gate pass / Permission

• स्कूल परिसर में प्रवेश करने के लिए आपको प्रवेश पत्र लेना होगा।
  You will have to get a permit to enter in the school premises.
  
  
• सऊदी अरब में महिलाओं को कार चलाने की अनुमति नहीं है।
  Women do not have permit to drive cars in Saudi Arabia.

Perpetuate (vt.) – परपिचुएट – स्थिर रखना / कायम रखना – To continue

• हमारे समाज में कई सालों से जो कुप्रथाएं चली आ रही हैं, उनको कायम रखने के बजाय हमें उन्हें बंद करना चाहिए।
  Bad practices have been going on in our society for so long, instead of perpetuating them we should try to stop them.
  
  
• किसी विजेता के लिए सबसे बड़ी चुनौती ये होती है कि इतने सालों से आ रहे जीत के सिलसिले को कायम कैसे रखे।
  The biggest challenge for any winner is how to perpetuate the winning streak which has been going on for so many years.

Perplex (vt.) – परप्लेक्स – हैरान करना / कठिन बनाना – Entangle / Confound

• बच्चों का मन इतना बदलता है कि उनके माँ – बाप हैरान – परेशान हो जाते हैं।
  A child’s mood swings so much that their parents get perplexed.
  
  
• जब से ऋत्विक के नंबर कम आ रहे हैं, तब से वह पढ़ाई को लेकर काफी ज़्यादा चिंतित है।
  Ever since Rithwik has been scoring less, he has been perplexed regarding his studies.

Persecute (v.) – पर्सिक्यूट – अत्याचार करना / सताना – To oppress / To torture

• किसी को भी उसकी धार्मिक आस्था के लिए सताया नहीं जाना चाहिए।
  Nobody should be persecuted for his religious faith.
  
  
• वे उस देश के सताए हुए अल्पसंख्यक हैं।
  They are the persecuted minorities of that country.
  
  
• राजा ने निर्दोष लोगों पर अत्याचार किया।
  The king persecuted the innocent people.
  
  
• उसे सताया गया ताकि वो उकसे और कोई गलती कर बैठे।
  He was persecuted so as to provoke him and make him commit a mistake.

Perspective (n.) – पर्सपैक्टिव – दृष्टिकोण – Viewpoint / Outlook / Approach

• मेरे नजरिये में इस प्रोपर्टी के रेट तेजी से बढेंगे।
  In my perspective, the rate of this property will increase quickly.
  
  
• चीजों को देखने का आपका नजरिया/ दृष्टिकोण आस पास के महौल पर निर्भर करता है।
  Your perspective to see things depends on your surroundings.

Perturb (vt.) – परटर्ब – व्याकुल करना / परेशान करना / चिंतित करना – Disturb

• शिवा हमेशा अपने दोस्तों के साथ ऐसा मज़ाक करता है जिससे कि वो हँसने के बजाय परेशान हो जाते हैं।
  Shiva always cracks such a joke with his friends that instead of laughing, they get perturbed by it.
  
  
• रोज़ रात को कुत्तों की आवाज़ के कारण सुमन परेशान हो जाती है और कभी भी अपने कमरे में ध्यान लगाकर पढ़ नहीं पाती।
  Every night, due to the barking sound of dogs, Suman gets perturbed and most of the time isn’t able to read with a concentration in his room.

Perusal (n.) – पेरुज़ल – ध्यान देकर पढ़ने की अवस्था – Attention

• एक बार करण ने अपने परीक्षा में सवाल को ध्यान देकर नहीं पढ़ा और बहुत ही आसान सा सवाल गलत कर दिया।
  Once Karan did not do perusal of the instructions in the examinations, and he did a straightforward question wrong.
  
  
• कभी भी कानूनी दस्तावेज़ों को ध्यान देकर पढ़ना चाहिए, अगर कुछ भी गलत हुआ तो हमें बहुत बड़ा ख़ामियाज़ा उठाना पड़ सकता है।

Pessimistic (adj.) – पैसिमिस्टिक – निराशावादी (nirashavadi) – Negative/Gloomy

• वो एक निराशावादी इन्सान है। उसकी सोच नैगेटिव है।
  He is a pessimistic person. He has a negative thinking.
  
  
• निराशावादी मत बनिए। आशावादी बनिए।
  Don’t be pessimistic. Be optimistic.

Phenomenal (adj.) – फिनॉमिनल – अद्भुत / असाधारण – Unbelievable / Unusual

• राजीव नाम के एक गरीब घर के लड़के ने पैसे के अभाव में रहते हुए, खुद की मेहनत और लगन से पढ़ के इग्ज़ैम पास किया; यह एक असाधारण उपलब्धि है।
  A boy named Rajeev hailing from a poor background despite the lack of money passed the exam on the ground of his efforts and dedication; this is a phenomenal achievement.
  
  
• अब्दुल कलाम, भारत के पूर्व राष्ट्रपति और महान वैज्ञानिक थे जिनकी उपलब्धियाँ अद्भुत हैं।
  Abdul Kalam was the former President of India and a great scientist who had some phenomenal achievements.

Philanthropist (n.) – फिलैन्थ्रोपिस्ट – जनहितैषी / परोपकारी – Kind / Generous

• वो एक परोपकारी व्यक्ति हैं। वो मानव कल्याण के लिए हजारों NGO चला रहे हैं।
  He is a philanthropist. He is running thousands of NGOs for human welfare.
  
  
• वो एक परोपकारी व्यक्ति है, जबकि आप खुदगर्ज हैं। दोनों में बहुत बड़ा अंतर है।
  He is a philanthropist, while you are self-centered. There is a huge difference between the two.

Pilgrim (n.) – पिलग्रिम – तीर्थ –यात्री – Passenger

• हर साल कई हज़ार तीर्थ यात्री कश्मीर की तरफ रुख करते हैं, बस भोलेनाथ के दर्शन करने के लिए।
  Every year thousands of pilgrims plan a journey to Jammu and Kashmir, just to get the blessings of Lord Shiva.
  
  
• श्री तिरुपति बालाजी के दर्शन करने के लिए उनके भक्त विदेश से भी तीरथ यात्री बन कर आते हैं।
  To visit Tirupati Balaji and get his blessings, his followers even come from abroad as pilgrims.

Piracy (n.) – पायरेसी – साहित्यिक चोरी / समुद्री डकैती – Theft

• आज के युग में सामान्य चोरी तो होती ही है, इसके साथ ही साथ साहित्यिक चोरी भी चरम पर है।
  In recent times, theft is so common, but along with that piracy is also at its peak.
  
  
• कई जहाज अफ्रीका के रास्ते से होकर जाने में विश्वास नहीं रखते क्योंकि पहले कई बार वहाँ समुद्री डकैती की ख़बरें आ चुकी हैं।

Pity (n.) – पिटी – सहानुभूति / दया – Sympathy / Mercy

• अक्सर, लोग अनाथों से सहानुभूति जताते हैं।
  Often, people show pity on orphans.
  
  
• हमें जानवरों पर भी दया करनी चाहिए।
  We should also have pity on animals.

Placid (adj.)– प्लेसिड – नरम / कोमल – Calm / Sober / Serene

• जीविका बहुत ही शांत और कोमल स्वभाव की लड़की है लेकिन अगर कुछ गलत हो रहा हो तो वह अपनी आवाज़ हमेशा उठाती है।
  Jeevika is a girl of a very placid and soft nature, but whenever there is something wrong going on, then she always raises her voice.
  
  
• जो लोग किसी भी रोग से पीड़ित है या किसी प्रकार से परेशान हैं, उनके साथ गुस्सा होने के बजाय हमें नम्र स्वभाव में बात करनी चाहिए।
  Those people who are suffering from a disease or are disturbed due to any reason, with them we should talk placidly instead of showing anger.

Plead  (v.) – प्लीड – विनती करना / पैरवी करना – Defend / Appeal

• अपने केस की पैरवी करने के लिए उसके पास एक अच्छा वकील था।
  He had a good lawyer to plead his case.
  
  
• रीमा ने अपने बेटे से घर वापस आने की विनती की।
  Rima pleaded with her son to come back home.

Pledge (n.) – प्लैज – प्रतिज्ञा/संकल्प – Vow / Resolution

• डॉक्टर मरीज की जान बचाने की प्रतिज्ञा लेते हैं।
  Doctors take pledge to save patient’s life.
  
  
• सुनील ने संकल्प लिया है कि वह धूम्रपान छोड़ देगा।
  Sunil has taken a pledge that he will quit smoking.

Poke one’s nose into – पोक वन्स नोज़ इन्टु – किसी के काम में दखल देना / टाँग अड़ाना – Interfere / Disturb

• मेरे काम में टाँग मत अड़ाओ।
  Don’t poke your nose into my work.
  
  
• दूसरों की पर्सनल लाइफ में घुसना उसकी पुरानी आदत है।
  Poking nose into others’ personal life is his old habit.

Polish (n. & v.) – पॉलिश – पॉलैन्ड की भाषा / पॉलिश करना – Language of Poland / To shine

• पोलिश पोलैंड में बोली जाने वाली भाषा है।
  Polish is the language spoken in Poland.
  
  
• रोहन ने पार्टी में जाने से पहले अपने जूते पॉलिश किए।
  Rohan polished his shoes before going to the party.

Polite (adj.) – पोलाइट – विनम्र / सभ्‍य – Courteous  / Well mannered

• मेरी माँ बहुत दयालु और विनम्र हैं।
  My mother is very kind and polite.

  Everybody likes polite people.

Portable (adj.) – पोर्टेबल – हल्का सा ले जाने योग्य – Easy to carry

• मेरी ऐक्सरसाइज मशीन इतनी पोर्टेबल नहीं है कि आप इसे अकेले उठा सकें।
  My exercise machine is not so portable that you can lift it alone.

Portion (n. & v.) – पोर्शन – हिस्सा / बंटवारा करना – Part / To divide

• भारत में आबादी का एक बड़ा हिस्सा गरीबी में रहता है।

• परिवार की संपत्ति का बँटवारा बच्चों के बीच कर दिया गया।

Postpone (v.) – पोस्पोन – आगे बढाना, विलंब करना – Adjourn / Delay / Linger

• इस मीटिंग को 1 महीने के लिए टाल दिया गया है।
  This meeting has been postponed for a month.

Posture (n.) – पॉस्चर – ढंग/हाव भाव – Attitude / Way of standing or sitting

• गलत ढंग से बैठना (पॉस्चर) आपकी पीठ दर्द का कारण बन सकता है।
  Wrong posture can cause you back pain.
  
  
• आपका पॉस्चर बहुत महत्वपूर्ण है, खासकर जब आप इंटरव्यू दे रहे हों।

Precise (adj.) – प्रिसाइज़ – सटीक / स्पष्ट / एकदम परफैक्ट – Accurate / Exact

• जब बात बिजनेस में फैसले लेने की आती है, तो आपको सफल होने के लिए सटीक होना जरूरी है।
  When it comes to take decisions in business, you need to be precise to be successful.

Prejudice (n.) – प्रेज्युडिस – पक्षपात – Injustice / Partiality / Disparity

• पिछले कई सालों से आंदोलन हो रहे हैं, लोग आवाज़ उठा रहे हैं, फिर भी पक्षपात कहीं न कहीं हमारे समाज में अभी भी जीवित है।
  For many years in the past, there have been protests, and people are raising their voices; still, the act of prejudice is prevalent in our society.
  
  
• हमें किसी भी इंसान के साथ उसके रंग, जाति, भाषा या धर्म के आधार पर कभी भी पक्षपात करने की संविधान द्वारा सख्त मनाही है।

Present (n. & adj.) – प्रैज़ेन्ट – उपहार / वर्तमान – Gift / Existing

Preserve (v.) – प्रिज़र्व – सम्भाल कर रखना / संरक्षित रखना – To conserve / To safeguard

• हमें अपने प्राकृतिक संसाधनों को सम्भाल कर रखना चाहिए।
  We should preserve our natural resources.
  
  
• रेफ्रिजरेटर हमें भोजन को संरक्षित रखने में मदद करते हैं।
  Refrigerators help us to preserve food items.

• पैसा कमाने के साथ – साथ हमें इस बात का ध्यान रखना चाहिए कि पैसे से ज़्यादा प्रतिष्ठा ज़रूरी होती है।
  Along with earning money, we should also take care of the fact that prestige is more important than money.

Prevalent (adj.) – प्रिवलेन्ट – प्रचलित, काफी अधिक – Popular

• इस शहर में इंग्लिश काफी बोली जाती है।
  English speaking is prevalent in this city.
  
  
• यहां डांस सिखाने वाले इंस्टिट्यूट काफी हैं।
• Dance Institutes are prevalent here.

Prevent (v.) – प्रिवैन्ट – रोकना / रोकथाम करना – To avoid / To check

• सावधानी पूर्वक ड्राइविंग से दुर्घटनाओं को रोका जा सकता है।
  Careful driving can prevent accidents.

• कोविड 19 नामक बीमारी की रोकथाम आसान नहीं है।|
  It is not easy to prevent the disease named COVID 19.

Prey (n.) – प्रे – शिकार – Victim

• घास खा रहा हिरन, पानी पी रही भैंस या अपने आस – पास के माहौल से अनजान कोई भी जानवर, शेर या चीता के लिए एक बहुत ही आसान सा शिकार है।
  A deer grazing the grass, a buffalo drinking water, or any animal who is unaware of his surroundings, are easy prey for a lion or a cheetah.
  
  
• युवा पीढ़ी जो आसानी से बस में आ जाती है और अनपढ़ या अज्ञानी लोग, नेताओं के लिए चुनाव के दौरान सबसे आसान शिकार होते हैं।

Priceless (adj.) – प्राइसलैस – अनमोल / बहुमूल्य – Invaluable / Precious

  The Taj Mahal is a priceless legacy for the Indians.|
  
  
• पर्यावरण प्रकृति का बहुमूल्य उपहार है।
  Environment is the priceless gift of Nature.

Pride (n.) – प्राइड – घमंड / गर्व/ नाज़ – Ego / fulfillment/ Sense of achievement

• रोहित को बहुत ज्यादा घमंड है।
  Rohit has too much pride.
  
  
• क्या आप अपने काम पर गर्व करते हैं?
  Do you take pride in your work?

Primitive (adj.) – प्रिमिटिव – प्रारंभिक / प्राचीन – Ancient

• पत्थर को रगड़ कर आग लगाने का जो तरीका है वो आदिमानव के समय से चला आ रहा है और यह प्राचीन काल की बात है।
  The way of igniting by rubbing stones has been done since the times of early man, which dates back to the primitive era.
  
  
• यह एक नयी प्रकार की मशीन है जिसका अभी प्रारंभिक दौर चल रहा है, कुछ समय बाद इसे बाजार में आम लोगों के लिए खोला जायेगा।

• श्री मुरारी कृष्णन एक सरकारी स्कूल के प्राचार्य हैं।

• रेलवे भारत में परिवहन का प्रमुख साधन है।
  Railways are the principal mode of transportation in India.

Priority (n.) – प्रायोरिटी – प्राथमिकता / वरीयता – Concern / Preference  

• मेरी पहली प्राथमिकता है 33% नम्बर लाना।
  My first priority is to score 33%.
  
  
• हमें अपनी प्राथमिकताओं को समझने और उसके अनुसार कार्य करने की आवश्यकता है।
  We need to understand our priorities and act accordingly.

Privilege (n.) (vt.) – प्रिविलेज – विशेष लाभ / विशेषाधिकार – Advantage / Opportunity

• सरकार ने गरीब और किसान के लिए ऐसी कई योजनाएं निकाली हैं जिससे इन लोगों को विशेष लाभ होगा।
  The government has launched various such programmes for the poor and farmers, which will give special privileges to them.
  
  
• अभी के टैक्स सिस्टम के अनुसार, पांच लाख से नीचे कमाने वालों को ये विशेष लाभ है कि उन्हें टैक्स में पूरी छूट दी गयी है।
  According to the current tax system, those who are earning below five lacs are entitled to privileges that give them full exemption from taxes.\
  
  
• किसी ज़माने में केवल पुरुषों को ही मतदान का विशेषाधिकार प्राप्त था।
  Once upon a time only men had the privilege of voting.
  
  
• रोहन को दो साल तक विदेश में पढ़ाई करने का सौभाग्य प्राप्‍त हुआ।
  Rohan had the privilege of studying abroad for two years.

Probable – प्रोबेबल – संभावित (जिसकी संभावना है) – Likely / Plausible

• उसकी शादी की संभावित तारीख 23 अगस्त है।
  The probable date of his marriage is 23rd of August.
  
  
• यह संभावित है कि मैं अपनी जॉब कन्टीन्यू न करूँ।
  It’s probable that I don’t continue my job.

Probably (adv.) – प्रोबेब्ली – शायद / संभवत: – Perhaps / Possibly

• वे लोग शायद कल तक काम पूरा कर लेंगे।
  They will probably finish the work by tomorrow.
  
  
• संभवतः राहुल अब इंग्लिश बोलने में सक्षम है।
  Rahul is probably capable to speak English now.

Procedure (n.) – प्रोसीजर – प्रक्रिया / तरीका – Process / Method

• भारत के लिए वीज़ा प्राप्त करने की प्रक्रिया क्या है?
  What is the procedure for obtaining a visa for India?
  
  
• विश्व में कोई भी कोविड -19 की सटीक दवा बनाने का तरीका नहीं जानता।
  No one in the world knows the procedure of making exact medicine for COVID – 19.

Proclamation (n.) – प्रोक्लेमेशन – ढिंढोरा / घोषणा

• जब तक कोई बात पूरी तरह से पक्की न हो, उसके बारे में ढिंढोरा नहीं पीटना चाहिए क्योंकि अगर वैसा नहीं होता है तो सब मज़ाक उड़ाते हैं।
  Until something is confirmed, we should not make a proclamation about it because if it doesn’t go as planned, then everyone makes fun of it.
  
  
• सरकार ने इस साल के बजट सत्र के पहले ही कई चीज़ों पर टैक्स की छूट की घोषणा कर दी है।
  The government has a proclamation about the redemption of taxes on various commodities even before the budget session this year.

Proficient (adj.) – प्रोफिशियन्ट – पारंगत / कुशल / निपुण – Expert / Skilled / Capable

• क्या आप कंप्यूटर में पारंगत हैं?
  Are you proficient in computers?
  
  
• वह कस्टमर डीलिंग में निपुण है, इसीलिए मैंने उसे काम पर रखा है।
  He is proficient in customer dealing, that’s why I’ve hired him.

Profound (n.) – प्रोफाउंड – गहरा / गंभीर – Deep / Serious

• सब दीपक के विचार से इसलिए हैरान थे क्योंकि इतनी कम उम्र में भी उसकी सोच इस मुद्दे पर काफी गहरी थी।
  Everyone was shocked by Deepak’s thoughts because even at such an early age, he had a profound thought on this matter.
  
  
• कभी भी पानी में डुबकी लगते समय पूरी सावधानी बरतनी चाहिए, क्या पता हम जितना सोच रहे हैं समुद्र उससे ज़्यादा गहरा हो।
  Any time while diving, all precautions must be taken, who knows that the sea is more profound than we are assuming it to be.

Prosperity (n.) – प्रोस्पैरिटी – समृद्धि, अमीरी – Wealth/Affluence

• अमीरी दोस्त बनाती है और गरीबी उन्हें परखती है।
  Prosperity gains friends and adversity tries them.
  
  
• समृद्धि का मतलब है पैसा और प्रोपर्टी।
  Prosperity means to have money and property.

Protest (n.) – प्रोटैस्ट – विरोध –  Objection / Complaint

• अन्‍याय का सदा विरोध करना चाहिए।
  One should always protest against injustice.
  
  
• गरीब जनता ने बढ़ती कीमतों का विरोध किया।
  Poor people protested against the increase in prices.
  
  Provoke (v.) – प्रवोक – भड़काना, उकसाना – To aggravate, To make angry

• क्या आप अपनी शिक्षा को आगे बढ़ाने का इरादा रखते हैं?
  Do you intend to pursue your education?

Push (v.) – पुश – प्रोत्साहित करना / दबाना – To encourage / To press

• शिक्षक ने छात्र को प्रश्‍न का जवाब देने के लिए प्रोत्‍साहित किया।
  The teacher pushed the student to answer the question.
• यदि आप बटन को दबाते हैं, तो दरवाजा खुल जाएगा।
  If you push the button, the door will open.
